Our Trees

Ever notice how wild trees seem to grow so much better than the overpriced, premium plant you bought from a big box store?  There’s a reason for it.  Wild, native trees have had time to adapt to their specific geographical area and boast a quicker growth rate, in addition to better pest and disease resistance than their domestic cousins.  We have planted over a hundred trees on our property and have learned a few things.

We once bought some oak trees from a popular agriculture supply chain store.  The pictures showed pretty little Nuttall Oaks around two feet tall for the low price of $33.99 a tree.  The trees weren’t available for pickup, but no problem, shipping was available.  After tax and shipping, we were anxious to receive our oak trees.  They arrived looking nothing like the online picture and were essentially sawed off sticks in a tiny little pot.  One of the trees had some greenish leaves on it, the other one was essentially dead.  We both agreed there had to be a better way.

We source local acorns gathered from tall, healthy and proven native oak trees.  We germinate the acorns and grow them ourselves.  We also work with our state forestry service to ensure we have a healthy supply of native tree seedlings.  As our trees are gathered from native, proven healthy trees they sport stronger genetics that provide them with better disease and pest resistance than what you’ll find at the big box stores.  We’re also a small farm who can specialize and keep our prices competitive.

Please take a look at our inventory and don’t hesitate to come out and look at our trees before buying.  We’re always happy to talk about trees as that is one of our passions.  We promise we will never cut the tops off and sell you dead trees. See you soon!
